Field: Limit to 64. Bracket style 1 and done. Some players may get a bye depending on the field however we will do our best to get as many players as possible a 1st round match. Seeds will be assigned by commissioner.
Champion Prizes: 1.) Possession of trophy for 1 year, 2.) three medals for the Love Golf Tour Championship,
Format: Match Play rules with some Love Golf Tour alterations and local rules.
Handicap: 100% Example player A. is 10 handicap playing player B. that is a 4 handicap. Player A. will get 1 shot (10-4=6) on handicap holes 1-6. Options to calculate: CDGA or 5 recent scores with course name and tee played need to be submitted on the comment of section of the registration form on this page otherwise you will play at scratch.
Handicap adjustment: Players better than scratch will play to zero. Shots will be award based on index not course handicap. There will not be more than 1 shot given per hole. For example, a 20 handicap vs a scratch will get a max of 18-shots.
Location for matches up to final: High seed selects golf course and you have a 3-week window to complete your match. Extension due to weather or personal issues is up to discretion of the commissioner. If there is not a fair effort or an apparent effort to avoid the match in a reasonable time, a player may be disqualified.
Tees: 50 years old and over have the option to play up a select 6 holes up 1 tee box. These holes must be selected on the 1st tee. No one has to agree on a tee greater than 6,600 yards. If players agree to play the tips that is allowed. The final which will be played from the back tees.
Final match location, date tbd after final-4: Makray Memorial
9-hole matches: 9-hole matches will be permitted for the sake of time if both players agree however final-4 and final matches must be 18-holes.
Ties: In the event of a tie, the match will be settled via sudden death: Option-1 continue to 19th hole which must be the 1st hole of course played or Option-2 the low seed selects a new location to continue the match in sudden death format. Handicaps will continue to be awarded in the same manner. For example if Player A. is getting 5 shots and the 1st hole is the 5hcp hole, the player would get 1 shot on the first playoff hole.
Misc rules:
Rake and place within 6 inches inside the hazard line of every trap allowed.
USGA Rule Under Rule 1.2b is in effect and penalty can be assessed for poor sportsmanship. Examples: 1.) you may NOT stand in the line of play of any player to track shots or putts. 2.) If a player asks you to move due to tracking a putt or distracting behavior while attempting a shot, you MUST comply with the player’s request or penalty will be a loss of hole and/or possible suspension from the tour for poor sportsmanship. 3.) You may not touch another player’s golf ball without conceding the hole. 4.) If another player joins the match to fill out the group, players involved in a match must play their shots on or around the green prior to that non-competing player to avoid unfair advantage to read breaks etc. 5.) additional complaints will be addressed by commissioner. This is a gentleman’s game so please respect your opponent’s time to hit their shots and their good will should disagreement occur.
2nd place— 2 medals for tour championship and runner up prize money
3rd place — 1 medal for tour championship
